I have a dedicate server just to host 1 site and been paying $25 each month for Cpanel lisense which i hardly use since i set up the site.

Try to save some $$ and get more hand-on linux rather then depend on some GUI. I want to know how to config a linux server to host for 1 site.

I have been using Cpanel to:

- Add site
- create db
- create db user
- assigned user to db

That about it

I notice that the directory use by cpanel is

/home/user/public_html
/home/user/public_ftp
........

httpd run as nobody

I guess my real question is how to set up a server to host to host one site securely.

Ím not really good at linux so when possible please show step by steps.

BTW server will be set up by provider with Centos, Apache, Mysql

If you have dedicated server and you only familiar with GUI, try webmin (www.webmin.com)
Opensource and no restriction to use.
