Setting up a Web Server Using Bind in Centos 7

Greetings,

I'm trying to set up a web server using bind and I'm using examples from the following web site:

https://www.tecmint.com/setup-master...ver-in-centos/

However, I only have one physical computer at this time and what I would like to know/understand, is do I need to complete the settings for the slave portion of the set up procedure in order for this to work or should I complete the set up instructions for the slave server even though I don't have a second machine?

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

bind will work without secondary (slave) servers, but the setup is not very robust. Failure of the master server will prevent anyone from reaching your web server.
Also a slave server would require a second IP address. That's certainly do-able on one computer if you have multiple IPs available, but the same robustness issue would exist.

I believe the RFCs "require" at least two authoritative DNS servers on different sub-nets. ["Require" is in quotes 'cause there aren't any police out there for that!]

I've run master/slave on one server in the same subnet successfully in the past, although I don't do that any more. I use the DNS servers of my registrar for the domains I host. That gives me three servers in three different subnets. My bind installation(s) now only function as resolvers...they are no longer authoritative.
