I am at a loo for a problem that has recently popped up in the network at work.

We have 5 servers running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. All 5 are joined as memebr servers to a domain using Samba and Winbind. Until recently they were all working fine and authenticating without issue.

Recently during a round of updates, our Email server quit authentication. All 5 were updated at the same time to the same versions of nearly all the software. If you manually restart smbd, nmbd and winbind it will pull usernames and groups for a few minutes but will not let users log in. As soon as you start winbind, it htis 100% cpu usage. It will continue to generate instances slowly with each showing 100% cpu usage until the server grinds to a halt.

I can provide most any information that may help with this problem. please just ask. I am at the end of my skill with this problem.

I feel like an idiot. The problem appears to have been a firewall issue that appeared with the update. This server is in the DMZ unlike the rest of them.
