Problems getting my web server indexed in Google

Hi, I have a web server set up (Fedora 7 Linux and Apache). I want my site indexed in Google, but I can't seem to get it to index right. I have everything set up on the server. I followed all the steps at Google's Webmaster Tools page, added the URL and verified it with a meta tag. I know Google can access my web page because I will get Googlebot activity in Apache's log files, but nothing is ever added to Google. What is wrong here?

So, you have confirmed googlebot activity from your log files? That would seem to be saying that you've been indexed. How do you conclude that you have not been indexed? Or have not been added to google? When were you visited by googlebot, and when and how did you try to confirm that you were in google?

According to my log files, Google is accessing my web server, but nothing is showing up on Google. I tried Googling site:mysite.com and got no results. I tried Googleing specific sentences on my site, no results. I was last visited by Google yesterday at 10:30 AM according to my server log files. I am using a dynamic DNS hostname, would that be a problem?

No, the problems is either that Google found no relevant content or that it hasn't updated its results database yet. If you're being visited by the googlebot, all you can do is wait.

I have noticed that some things update very fast. Sometimes when I'm researching a question that was posted on linuxquestions, I find the very entry I'm trying to answer, and it was just posted that afternoon. So, this site seems to have a high priority. My blog, on the other hand, only gets indexed if some high priority site references it. ;-)
