Question no such directory for hdparm -I /dev/hda


anyone know why i would get "no such directory" when using

Are you sure it didn't say "No such file or directory" instead?

That is a standard message telling you the file it tried to access doesn't exist.

/dev/hd* were the older non-scsi hard disk designations. These days most disks are /dev/sd* instead.

What do you see if you type "ls -l /dev/hda"?

What about "ls -l /dev/hsd*"?

What about "ls -l /dev/sd*"?

thanks, your were right about the drive used, i used sda and it worked.
