nfs error host is down on centos

Hello

When I try to mount an nfs dir I get the following error:
mount.nfs: Host is down

The host is not down, I can ping it, I logged into it in another window.
IPtables is off on both host and client
Both OS are Centos 6.3
SElinux is disabled
Host: "rpcinfo -p" shows portmapper, mountd, nfs, and nlockmgr running
/etc/exports contains "/mnt/data *(rw,sync,no_root_squash)"
Client: "mount sysname:/mnt/data /mnt/data" returns above error.

I have googled the problem but I have been unable to find anything beyond turn off FW and basic info on how to setup nfs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Check your dns, make sure all services including rpcbind is running using service status ...

rpcbind shoul be running on the system you try mounting from as well.

I had many failed ovirt config attempts coz rpc was not running on client.

Could we have the fstab for your client?

Finally did you run exportfs?

It's working now. I had to work on another system for the past 2 days and I finally got back to it and everything is mounting just fine. I didn't change a thing. Go figure
