Check out this link.

In step 5 you enter your outgoing mail server. If you dont have a domain name that resolves to your server's IP you can just enter in the IP itself. Be warned though a lot of ISPs block port 25. If that is the case you will need to change the port that Exim listens on to something like 587.

Thank you for so soon reply. I have neither domain, nor a server. I just configured exim4 to work with mutt and bugzilla. In Evolution there is an option to send mails with sendmail that sends mails with exim that is running on the system level. There is no such an option in Thunderbird but I guess there should be a work around.
This is my /etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf:
Code:
# This is a Debian specific file

dc_eximconfig_configtype='satellite'
dc_other_hostnames=''
dc_local_interfaces='127.0.0.1'
dc_readhost='mail.ru'
dc_relay_domains=''
dc_minimaldns='false'
dc_relay_nets=''
dc_smarthost='smtp.mail.ru'
CFILEMODE='644'
dc_use_split_config='false'
dc_hide_mailname='true'
dc_mailname_in_oh='true'
dc_localdelivery='mail_spool'
