Host monitoring CMS-ish solution

Hey all. In our environment, we troubleshoot everything from VMware ESX host issues to VM issues to physical linux server issues. We use Remedy to schedule services/activities to ensure that our work is logged and billed accordingly, but I'm looking into creating a solution for those of us in the trenches that really need to be able to track what's been done, what's being done and what's about to be done to our hosts. Currently, we have a custom php page where one types in the hostname and information such as the service processor URL, IP, Serial Number, etc is displayed. What I'd really like is, additionally, provide all previous ticket numbers posted as links which, when selected, will show a detailed description of the issue, workarounds, solution (if one was found) and so forth. Remedy can do some of the aforementioned regarding the history of issues, but the search is cumbersome and it's far from a one-stop-shop for information gathering. The goal here is for our team to all be on the same page with status of all hosts we're responsible for. Does such a CMS or other project management thing exist or am I looking at pretty much building this from scratch? If the latter, would a TikiWiki get the job done close enough or does anyone have any other such relevant recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Loadedmind

I think you're looking at a pretty extensive project honestly, most of the support tools I've used (opensource or not, including remedy, tikiwiki, etc) all would have to be extended considerably to do what you're looking for.

The correct way to 'one stop' it would be integrate the information into remedy but that's a huge job unto itself and likely quite expensive before your done. A wiki is a good place to start and I would suggest you find one that you like the coding style of both the markup and the software itself and start from there.

Edit: You may be able to string together several applications to get all of the desired functionality also so whatever software you pick be sure to look at how easily it can be extended and bridge/integrated with other applications.
