Guidance regarding distribution for a headless linux server.
Greetings,
I have recently been thinking of doing a clean install of my old server. It has so far been running an installation of ubuntu server edition. Whilst I do like the distribution I've found myself quite locked to it, and have never even considered trying another distribution other than ubuntu for my server.
The server is and will be running some sort of fileshare, ssh, webserver, and a vpn; The services are lightly loaded and/or limited to personal use. My experiences with server-installs are as previously mentioned limited to ubuntu solely, I have however been using arch linux and a tad of debian on desktop/laptops.
The server consists of an intel atom d510(2x1,66 GHz + HT), 4gb ram, 4x2 TB hdd (Paired in RAID 1).
So to the question at hand: Which distribution would suit me best? I am looking for a reliable OS and the server will have an uptime of close to 100%.
Thanks in advance, yours sincerely.
