linux 7.1? do you mean red hat 7.1? or SuSE 7.1?
the distribution one chooses is mainly a preference of oneself, not of the computer it is to be installed on!
in the case of an oracle db to be used, i'd say, choose a distro you are comfortable with, and one that is supported by oracle!
if you dont have oracle support, then just choose one that you are comfortable with.
it in near to all cases as nothing to do with the machine you want to install it on!

Red Hat 7.1 is way out-dated, personally i would suggest you use a more resent version, i.e. going with red had ES4 or anything new that is still supported by oracle. it is so old you would be running all your sensitive data on a pretty insecure system, which is not advisable. + i know from own experience that red hat 7.1 and oracle 9i is not the best combination, things can go really mucky if the go wrong, and where i was they went wrong and we had some bad hacks in place!!!
if you can get your hands on something more recent that oracle still supports, that would be a way safer bet.
oh yeah: it is also that out-dated that you may find yourself having driver issues with the raid controller!
