Hi all. I have a few users that are claiming to have file sync issues. They are making changes to documents that aren't being posted when saved. I did notice the the times from the client and the servers are way of from each other. This is a closed network, so there is no remote time server.

The users on on windows machines on a windows domain, but are connected to some fedora file servers. They get to the file server using cygwin on their windows machines.

Besides the time issue, what other factors may cause this file sync issue?

I'd suggest setting up ntpd on the server to keep the time clocks on the computers within shouting distance of each other (the clients would just get the current time on the file server rather than online.)

More importantly I'd check file permission settings, and that only 1 person has the file(s) open at any given time. Those are the things that immediately pop to mind at least.
