Displaying JPEG files within the cgi-bin folder

I've created a script to upload images and then display them as thumbnails in a HTML output.

It was working great until I moved the script to a new server.
Now the thumbnails come up as broken links and when I click on them I get an output of the file name.

I believe this is because the image files are being stored in a sub folder of the "cgi-bin". I think that on the last server I changed something in the "httpd.conf" file to allow this. But, I can't remember what.

I'm running Apache on a PCLinuxOS machine.

any help would be great.
