Question Dell PE2950-III PERC6/i RAID support

Does anyone know if the PERC6/i or PERC5/i SAS/SATA raid controller is supported in Slackware 12.1?

A year or two ago we successfully built the kernel on our PE2850 with support for the PERC4/i RAID controller with CONFIG_SCSI_MEGARAID2=y

I am looking to purchase some more servers(PE2950-III) but would like to know what is the highest version of the PERC raid cards will be supported. I'd hate to spend the money to find I cant use it.

Question Anyone?

I've looked around and still not found out if there is kernel support for the PERC5 or 6. Is anyone running linux on a dell with a perc 5 or 6 card with SATA drives?

For others who need the info. The PERC5 is supported in kernel 2.6. When you boot from the Slackware CD/DVD, start by booting the huge26.s kernel, and install that as the boot kernel as well (initially)
Code:
boot: huge26.s
After you have installed, you can edit your config and rebuild a not so huge kernel to your liking. I use lilo with the original kernel(huge26.s) as a choice as well as my custom build kernels.

More info on Dell storage controllers under Linux at their website..

http://linux.dell.com/storage.shtml
Quote:
The new PERC 5 and PERC 6 RAID controllers use SAS (Serial Attached SCSI), and a new driver, megaraid_sas. The new SAS 5 and SAS 6 non-RAID controllers use a new driver, mptsas, part of the mptfusion driver family. Both drivers are included in kernel.org 2.6.x kernels, and have been backported to the RHEL3 2.4.21-x kernels.
