change samba share permissions using CLI that were initially set with Nautilus

I followed these directions to set up Samba on my Ubuntu 8.10 box: http://www.funnestra.org/ubuntu/intrepid/#samba

Nowadays however I don't use the server graphically, so I can't change the sharing options graphically with Nautilus like that link recommends.

I've looked in /etc/samba/smb.conf but it does NOT contain the directory permission information currently in use that I set with Nautilus. Does Nautilus store its changes in some auxiliary file I can't find?

What are the exact changes you want to do with you share?

If want to change the the share to be authorized by certain users only, add

Quote:
valid users = user1 user2
public = no
to the share definition in smb.conf

so that's the thing! nothing in smb.conf contains the directories that are already being shared (the ones i set up graphically in nautilus). is nautilus storing them somewhere else?

maybe the following is part of it?

;[profiles]
; comment = Users profiles
; path = /home/samba/profiles
; guest ok = no
; browseable = no
; create mask = 0600
; directory mask = 0700
