CentOS 6.5 -- Postfix completely broken! Please help.

I've got a new VPS running CentOS 6.5. I've installed Zarafa and it was running, sending messages but not receiving messages. In an effort to fix it I read a lot of pages on the internet and made the recommended changes to main.cf not really paying attention to what I was changing (mainly because I didn't know what the settings were for).

I've tinkered with exim in the past on my other boxes and have always been able to get things going. This is the first time I've tried using Postfix.

Well, it is completely broken now. In the process of trying to clear my log file so it was easier to read, I deleted /var/log/maillog and just created a new file. I backed up my /etc/postfix directory and deleted it. Re-installed postfix via yum to re-create the original main.cf file.

When I run postconf -d it shows all the old settings of the main.cf file I just deleted.

I try to start postfix, it fails but there is nothing added to the log file so I can't see why it isn't working. I've probably messed up the ownership/permissions on the /var/log/maillog file.

Could someone please help me get this going?

Perhaps you can identify some error about postfix at /var/log/whateverthenameofthearchiveyouhavetologemail or /var/log/syslog ?
Can you check to reconfigure de postfix, something like dpkg-reconfigure --force postfix*

May can you install "configure-debian" and attempt to change the parameters from there?

Thank you very much. CentOS doesn't have dpkg does it?

I managed to get it working again. I can't tell you want I did as it took me hours to figure it out. I got everything working except for receiving emails. But, I've erased the VPS and am starting over so that I can use Zarafa-Admin.
