cannot create aquota.group file with quotacheck

Hello,

I am trying to activate quotas on a local share, exported through NFS. I would like to configure quota by group (in order to manage less entries).

On the NFS server, where data is located I run the following command:

Code:
quotacheck -g -c /user/homes
The result is a quota.group (and not an aquota.group) file. Do someone have an idea how to debug? The directory contains about 3500 entries (home dirs) but I don't think this should be an issue.

If I run the same command on another directory aquota.group is created. If I run without the -g, a aquota.user is created.

Any comments are welcome.

Best,
