Unfortunately, I've already tried that. Sorry I should have mentioned it. This is what I get:

quotaon: using //aquota.group on /dev/hda5 : no such file or di
quotaon: using //aquota.user on /dev/hda5 : no such file or di
It seems that quotacheck and quotaon are simply tring to read the values in the aquota.group and aquota.user files. They don't appear to replace them if they are missing.
Anyone know how to re-create the files?
