Can I delete the Network Crash Dump user?

netdump:x:xxx:xxx:Network Crash Dump user:/var/crash:/bin/bash

Any downsides?

Hi -

I'd do a "man 8 netdump".

If you're not using network dumps (and you're almost certainly not!), then I don't see any reason not to delete the user.

An alternative, if you want to keep it "just in case", is to set the user's shell to "/bin/false" (if it currently happens to be "/bin/sh").
