Exclamation kernel crash dump: where do I debug?

I successfully compiled the 2.6 kernel with board support for the encore m3 board. the resultant vmlinux file generated is loaded to the board using tftp.

When the go command is issued in YAMON to execute the binary, the kernel is stuck and causes an oops immediately after the board_setup_timer(&time_irqaction) function is called in the time_init function from main.c.

Can someone please point me to a good place to debug this error? I know that it oopses at the above location from the dump of the log buffer taken immediately after repowering the board, which is why the contents of the buffer arent preserved exactly. This is the dump i get.
