best smp distro??

Hey. just got approved to purchase a dual core dual proc set up. Looks like I am going to go with the ASUS L1N64-SLI WS Dual Socket 1207FX, and 2 AMD Opt 2212 2.0GHz Dual Core...now I need to pick my distro.

I have been running fedora 2 for like ever, and I am not too impressed with it, especially when compared to ubuntu which I have been using on my laptops. apt is great! But I feel like fedora is a sure thing when it comes to the smp compatability, and ubuntu is a long shot, probably leading to a long and frustrating road of smp misery. My point is I would like to make an informed descision and not just be scared into installing fedora again. Comments from any one with SMP experience would be greatly appreciated.

been using smp ubuntu on my laptop for a long time without any issues... i would expect the server version of ubuntu to behave just as flawlessly...

Well in my experience Fedora is my love, when I bought my current hardware, no distros except Fedora digested my motherboard, not even Ubuntu. Again this may be fanboyism which will likely be future replies here. I suggest try a couple of 64bit live CD's and then decide based on criteria like hardware, support, help etc.

This is just like asking, "what distro is best"... any of them or all pretty much use the same kernel, so all of them will work the same, unless the distro changed some of the kernel stuff for SMP.
