Automatic hard disk restore

Hello,

I want the computer to restore on boot.

How?

I know how to make a raw image with dd from hard disk to hard disk.
I do not know how to automate this process.

Thank you.

Angel

Have you considered using the hard drive only for data, and loading your OS from DVD image (on DVD or USB device) on every boot? This would ensure that it is reloaded to the base on every boot and is FAR less likely to cause you problems than a restore from backup on every boot.

Yes, I'm experimenting with this, do not know exactly how to write the scripts.

and Happy New 2017 all around the planet! :-)

it seems you have a problem, but you are not telling us about the problem, but about something that you THINK might be a solution.

I second the motion. Can you provide some background or detail about what prompts the question?
Also some parameters for the acceptable solution.
In the absence of that detail, and answer like "Just use TinyCore, Puppy, DSL, or even Knoppix" is to be expected, but this may not actually address your need.

dd is a error prone way to do backups and restores. I suggest that you use rsync to do the backups. Then you could do a restore at boot by including a rsync restore script in your distribution's init script.

Here is an explanation on how to do rsync backups: http://www.howtogeek.com/135533/how-...data-on-linux/

You can find additional information on rsync syntax by using the man command:
man rsync

You can find more information on how to create the restore script and run it at boot in the file /etc/init.d/README.
