X11 display failed logins

I am using kdm as the X11 login manager.
What I would like to see is this :
After a user logged in through kdm, a window (possible xconsole) is opened with the number of failed logins since the last successful login.

pam_login allows 'faillog' to keep track of failed logins, but this is only through console login. All the other X11 login managers use thier own scheme, so I am thinking of a script that parses the log file after login.

Has anyone did something like this before ? Anyone know of a program that might do this already ?

Thanks
-Eric
