SuSE 10.0 firewall configuration

Hi all.

I installed FTP server on my SuSE and now I need to configure the firewall to allow the ftp traffic. There is firewall GUI but it doesn't have the FTP setting. So I went to change the settings manually. Using SuSE help feature here's what I found:

"First, use the YaST module System Services (Runlevel) to enable SuSEfirewall2 in your runlevel (3 or 5 most likely). It sets the symlinks for the SuSEfirewall2_* scripts in the /etc/init.d/rc?.d/ directories."

I did all that but those symlinks (FW_PROTECT_FROM_INT, FW_SERVICES_EXT_TCP, FW_SERVICES_INT_TCP, etc.) are not there. Is there another way of setting those symlinks? Or is there another way of enabling port 21 in the firewall?

Thanks for the help.

r.

I don't remember the exact location but in the Firewall GUI Configuration in YAST there is an option somewhere to add additional ports that are not listed.

you are absolutely right. It's under ALLOWED SERVICES -> ADVANCED. I feel a little stupid but I think we all do stupid things.

thanks
