ipv4 vs. ipv6


what exactly is the difference between ipv4 and ipv6? what are the benifits of using ipv6 as opposed to ipv4? just a website that explains it would be ok. ive looked but usually i cant understand what they are saying. :|

You know the standard IP's are 4 sets of numbers:
1.2.3.4

Well with ipv6, it's 6

1.2.3.4.5.6

You get a lot more ability with that, and don't have to worry about IP's "running out" unless you get A LOT of people on earth, in which case, ipv8 will of course come out

That's my understanding, please, anyone feel free to capitalize on my lack of knowledge in this area and give a better explaination.
