Unhappy Dont know my username

i feel depressed because of linux
its my first install of linux and i had a couple of problem i got over but now, i have another one

When i try to log in my redhat linux 8.0, it ask me a username and a password
When i installed linux, it asked me an administrator password but i dont remember getting asked about a username.
I REALLY didnt enter any username during the setup
in the logon screen, if i type nothing in the username feild, it ask me again the username, so i cant log on
i i type anything else, THEN i can enter the password but its no use because it doesnt refer to any username.

I would like to know if there is a default Username asigned by redhat
What is it
Please help me, ANY could be a solution is welcome.
Thx

Chunky

If you don't have any user, type "root" as the user name without the quotes and use the password that you entered when you set up the install. That will get you login, but set up a regular user account under redhat-menu->System Settings->Users and Groups.

You can accidentilly do some damage under a root login (pretty much no check under that login)

//Mod. note: Surfer, you can't get away with a oneliner like this. Either know what you're talking about and elaborate on it (you're talking to another "newbie") or don't post.

Well, I've seen a lot of those questions about the latest RedHat. It asks you for the password, but doesn't mention ANYTHING about the username (root) anytime during this part of the install. This easily confuses newbies.

If confused me for a minute or two before I realized...
