ClamAV with a Samba file Server for windows

hi there,

i'm looking as making a samba file server for my M$ windows domain and what i would really like to happen is to have an anti-virus doing real time scans of all my windows files and folders as they are writtern and read. although my choice of anti-virus is clamAV if clamav wont do real time scanning of M$ window files i'll have to go somewhere esle.

so my questions would be:

1. what anti-virus would be best for this situation

2. does anyone know of a good how-to for this situation?

3. i'm a fan of the gui, if anyone has a soluation that involes and nice web interface, webmin module, a script that can just be set with cron or gui, i'd be a lot happier.

There is a "samba-vscan" addon for Samba that allows it to interface with ClamAV or other antivirus. There is also a Clamuko, which IIRC, is a Linux kernel module that does real-time filesystem scanning on everything. Both are still works in progress, and I haven't used them myself, so I don't know how hard they are to setup.

I actually am starting to look into this as well. I recall earlier this year the samba-vscan was not stable yet.

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/quick-samba-howto.xml

You might find some useful info there^

It's written for gentoo but i'm sure the configuration stuff still applies
