antivirus software

Well I got Fedora up and running today!! Hurray...Anyhow I have a couple of questions....What antivirus software should I run? Is there any other programs out there that are a must have for the newbie linux user?
Also, last question, Fedora recognizes my integrated sound, which is intel 828810, i think, got it written down somewhere, cant find it now though, but the problem is this ....the sound is all garbled up...really bad, any suggestions? thanks all!

You don't need one. It's been ages when I last time heard about a Linux virus. I guess there are about 0 active viruses for UNIX/Linux/*BSD. At least I'm not running any antivirus software.

Great isn't it!

To add to that, there are very few viruses for Linux and I believe that most of them are 'proof of concept' ie that they were produced to prove that it could be done, but were never released into the wild.

If your box is being used as a file/print server, a web server or a mail server and is serving Windows boxes, then you should get a virus guard. ClamAV and F-Prot are very popular and pretty straightforward to install.

And I'm moving this to Linux-Security, where some of our "security experts" may well be able to add more to this.

I'd go wth ClamAntiVirus...
Since you can easliy config that to can your mail and whatever comes into your pc..

Apart from the irritating windows viri you don't really need it

But nice to have on the safe side
