X, Fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed'

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

I wrote 'startx' and then got an error or something, checked the log file and the above text is what was in the log file almost at the bottom, I couĂldn't see any other error then that. How the hell do I fix it? :ț

FontPath "unix/:7100"
This apears to be the problem, it's a line in my xorg.conf file, is the font path wrong or something? Am I missing some font packedge? Help me please.

I had that same problem. Go to /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias. In fonts.alias look for a line that says: "fixed -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso8859-<x>". Replace the "<x>" with a number (in my case I put "1"), save the file and try to run startx again.

P.D.: You'll see that other fonts have the "<x>", you can either change them or leave them as they are. In my case I just left them like that, since the problem is in the "fixed" font.

Hope this helps.

You simply should install package named xfonts-base.
