Wireless Conection

Hi guys

Brand new to theis site and linux. I go a copy of Knoppix to sort out my crashed Craptop. Worked a treat and sold me on a new operating system.

One major bugbear is I cannot get teh wireless card to work. so any suggestions would be very welcome. I should add that getting it to work underwindows would test the patience of a saint.

To get it working I had to uninstall the device and re-install then maually start to the WZC serviceand manually reconnect the service. The actual device is an Intel PRO/Wireless 3954ABG network connection using a windows XP driver

Thanks in advance. Please ask if more info is required.

Intel have released a driver for the 3945ABG, which you can find by searching http://sourceforge.net. You will also need the IEEE80211 firmware image, also from Sourceforge. Extract the IEEE80211 image into /lib/firmware, then install the driver with the usual configure - make - make install routine. Reboot and you should be in business.
