wierd annoyance with opening mp3 files from konqueror

Ok, when i uninstalled the rpm xmms package and installed the source xmms package, now when i want to double click and open up a file while there's already xmms open playing, it will go into that window, but it'll show a little window in the task bar trying to open a new xmms window and the cursor blinks for like 1 minute then doesnt do anything

how do i make it so it goes into xmms directly?

it used to work with the rpm i got with my suse cds :S

In xmms => options => preferences => options (again!) unselect "Allow multiple instances"

Wait, are you saying that the song plays but your cursor is stuck? Which window manager are you using?

Yeah, that's just the annoying "busy cursor" and/or "taskbar notification" in kde. You can turn them off in the control center => Appearance & themes => launch feedback.
