Who are the final linux authorities?

There has to be somebody out there who is the go-to-site or company for linux related problems, issues, or news. Who are the big linux players? Is it linux.org? IBM? What sites are respected as credible sources for linux information?

Thank you!
Skippy

Linux is the kernel so the top person who has all the say in the official kernel is Linus Torvalds. He also owns the Registered Trademark.

The place to start is the Linux Documentation Project http://www.tldp.org

For news there are
http://www.linuxtoday.com
http://newforge.com

Your replies are very helpful, thank you. Who would you say is the most credible source for Linux information? There are a lot of po-dunk linux sites out there and I don't want to get burned.

It's according to what you're looking for. There is no one site that will give you all the info you need. For documentaion, as I've already stated, http://www.tldp.org is a great place to start.

Exactly what kind of info are you looking for? There is no one site like microsoft.com

Resistance if futile...
You will be assimilated...

Oops, that's the final Microsoft authority.

Never mind.
