Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

First off you guys are great for all the help, but I have another(minor) problem. I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and everything is great, until I tried to install upgraded packages using Mandrake Upgrade(rpmdrake I think its called), anyways I downloaded updates for gaim and office and a couple of other things I thought I needed, and those went fine. Then I figured I might need some of the other "security upgrades" so I starting clicking away and ended up with most of the possibilities....I reboot and re-login to see if anything messed up and sure enough I no longer have any icons in my Main Menu. I can add to a new panel the Menu Bar(the one with two menus, MandrakeLinux, and Actions) and I have all of the Actions still there fine, but the MandrakeLinux menu is empty...
I know its kinda trivial but I have no idea where to find the programs, to re-build my menu, or even at the very least what the command line is for the program that manages the menu itself...names escape me right now. So any ideas or help would be great!! Thanks
