How to get Gnome Launchers working?

Anyone know why my /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1/soffice launcher that I created on my gnome 2.4 desktop doesn't load OpenOffice?
It doesn't do anything when I try to open it, but loading it from a terminal works (./soffice run within the directory).

Do I need to put something special in the command field? I have had trouble with creating launchers to load apps, and I find they never work. There are no options for other pre-installed menu launchers, yet they work fine. What gives?

And why can't they be edited after creation. I have to re-create it if it make a mistake.

Thanks in advance.

I would guess that if you put '/soffice' in the command line field for the launcher then it should work, given that it works from the terminal.

I am using an older Gnome though, but I like the new OpenOffice I think it is slick, I could do with some better fonts though.....
