Post What types of server does GMAIL / YAHOO use for themselves ?


Just a quick newbie question. Just wondering What types of server does GMAIL / YAHOO use for themselves ?

Does they use eamil server like
Qmail
Postfix
sendmail

..... and so on

LOL

or they use there own software to run email server.

anyone got any idea

There was a time when yahoo had traces of qmail in their server messages... that might be a long time ago by some standards.

I think it's safe to say they've built into heavily customized versions of available FOSS. I would bet against sendmail.

Gmail use their own server which I believe is really strong. Not sure about Yahoo as their system is too weak and prone to spam attack easily. Yahoo, if my understanding is right, should have bought email hosting plans from some companies just like we guys do
