What is a group in Linux

A. This should be easy... it really should. But I haven't been able to google my way to the answer. I want to have a kinda complete understanding to what a group is, how it works, what it performs, or doesn't perfom.....

B. Don't send me to the man pages --it's time Linux users start admitting they suck and are poorly over written.

Hi,

I don't think man pages suck, it's just that people seem to expect things of them that they are generally
not intended to provide. If you think of them as a terse reference, not a howto or tutorial, then they will serve you better. If you want howtos or references you may be better looking elsewhere.

The rute book is a good place to start. Regarding groups and users see:

HTH,

Evo2.
