what is a good mp3 player that is compatible with Linux

I'm planning to buy an mp3 player and recently through the threads I have learned that not all players are compatible with Linux. All I need is 1gb of memory. What mp3 players do you use and if possible post a link to information about it so I can view its details and maybe purchase the same kind.

Anyone tried Sandisk audioplayer? If yes what do you think about it?

I know you said that you only needed 1G of memory, but I have a Dell pocket DJ (4G) that works perfectly. I downloaded the drivers (http://libnjb.sourceforge.net) to have linux recognize the hd, then I just used different programs to upload/download files (Neutrino - http://neutrino.sourceforge.net & gnomad - http://gnomad.sourceforge.net).

Surely it would be best to just get one which is UMS compatible, then you will just be able to mount it directly as a drive (providing you have the correct module for your USB controller and USB mass storage loaded/compiled into the kernel) rather than having to use a specific program to do the transfers.

Some good UMS-capable flash players are the iRiver iFP series and the Creative Zen Nano Plus (formerly the Muvo Micro series).
