G'Day there, first I was wondering if it is at all possible to be able to use a cdwriter on another PC that has say XP-home or linux using Samba etc , as I would like to be able to burn using the cdwriter from another PC ,& if so, could anyone tell me what the command I would add to "add device " in K3B , example I think is normally /dev/cdrom for main PC but from networked PC I am not sure what I would put in k3b for it to recognise that cdwriter etc? I hope someone knows what I am trying to say as I need to bev able to use the cdrom on my XP-home PC
The reason I wanted to try to do it this way is because I cant get Samba on XP-home to allow me to touch my files on Kanotix, its really annoying, no matter what I add or do to Samba in Control Panel in KDE that it wont give me access, saying I dont have permission even though from everything I have checked on Kanotix side seems to give XP every right to thouch certain files, Very annoying, Maybe I dont know what I am doing
I may have misinterpreted you plight. Are wanting read acces to the cdwriter. Samba should do this with no problem. But if you want to write to it on a different computer then no way. If it is a locally connected cdwritet then you will check you write permission on the device. In order to write to it you must write permission.
