Dvd-burner help

Hey, I use k3b to burn my dvd-r's and my dvd burner is a 4xspeed burner.. What i don't understand is why k3b will only let me choose 2x or 1x (or auto but that stays at 2x). The dvd discs i have are 4x too..
Anyone know what to do ?

The latest version is 0.11.18. Which one are you using?

Well, now it doesn't seem to be the problem, now it just won't burn, it gives me an Input/Output error... perhaps the discs?

i've come to the conclusion it's not the discs but the computer itself.. I tried two brands(one was dvd-r, and the other was dvd+r).. i know for a fact that it burns in windows, but it won't in linux
