using a live cd to rescue bookmarks......

Hi, a friends windows pc has given up the ghost. I've convinced him to try Linux. He will only agree to abandon windows if I can save his IE bookmarks, or he'll pay someone to fix his XP-Home virus laden mess. The hardware is fine, I've used Puppy linux on his pc just to check. Now for the hard part, where do I find his bookmarks in that mess ?

On a related point, I've moved a hard drive from an older slow piece of crap, onto my nice reasonably fast newer computer, just installed Kubuntu to a new partition, the old Kubuntu 6.06 is still there. There are a few pieces of info I'd like to grab before I reformat that partition for another distro, I'd like a few things stored on knotes or kjots. I've mounted that partition and looked in .kde, but had no luck. Where would I find it ?

Thanks much.....

David

ubuntu installer will offer you to import documents and settings from existing partition .. including bookmarks.

But bookmarks for IE are stored in:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites

Tell your friend to use virtualbox for windows applications that he can't live without.

Don't know much about KDE, I'm a gnome'er Sorry
