I have an active subscription with redhat and an rhn account. I'm not a total newbie when it comes to linux. I don't know enough and what I do know makes me dangerous to my computers functionality! Here's the problem. I like redhat. It recognizes all my hardware and gives me the least headaches that way. I love ubuntu because it has the most toys. I receantly went back to redhat because I was having problems in ubuntu with modems, dvd drives, and a bunch of other stuff. I may dual boot to Mint, but I'll worry about that later. I downloaded apt and synaptic from htp:/dag.wieers.com/rpm/. I followed all their dircetions correctly. The problem I'm having with them is that it was a pain in the butt to get apt and synaptic for one. It kept downloading maybe 2 to 5% of the file, then it would fail. I eventually got it all downloaded, but this won't work for apt/synaptic if I want to download larger programs and their dependencies. I think this may have also effected my ability to get updates from the official Redhat site. Thanks in advance. These are the errors I get in synaptic.

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.
