sir i have ubuntu-8.04.and i have installed httpd-2.0.40 in /etc but i am unable to start httpd, apache.
please help me...
and i am not getting any /etc/httpd/conf/httpd. i have to edit /etc/httpd/conf/httpd to make it listen for ipv6, but an empty file is opening,and there is no conf file in httpd.

Sir, i have new problem now- i have to run "service vsftpd restart" command on the ftp server but its showing "vsftpd command not found".but vsftpd.conf file is present in /etc/vsftpd.conf. so, how to start vsftpd on the ftp server?

Hi, check vsftpd startup script on /etc/init.d/ directory, if it is available then you can start services using
#service vsftpd start
OR
#/etc/init.d/vsftpd start

yes now my ftp server is running.but its not listening yo ftp on its port 21. i checked it by command "telnet localhost 21" and "netstat -tulpn|grep :21" . so how to make ftp server to listen on its port 21.
and when im executing "ftp 2001:468::3" on the ftp client side then "UNKNOWN HOST" is coming on ftp client side.here 2001:468::3 is the ipv6 address of ftp server.please help
