ubuntu one menu launcher not connecting

The menu ubuntu one launcher is not connecting with the ubuntu one cloud and therefore it is not syncing files with the local folder. A menu of the ubuntu one opens but another menu opens with the message "Sorry, an error has occurred and Ubuntu One needs to close", when pressing the details icon the folowwing message appears AssertionError
Assertion failed.

Would be grateful for any help in solving this issue.
