Trouble installing rt2500 driver in BackTrack

I'm trying to install the Linux drivers for my Airlink101 AWLH5025 MIMO XR wireless card for BackTrack 2.0 Beta Live CD. The card works fine in Windows, but I don't want to use ndiswrapper.

First, I did a lspci command, which yielded something along the lines of "ralink - unknown device 0401"

The card uses the Ralink RT2600 chipset, so I dropped by serialmonkey to grab their latest stable rt2500 driver (they didn't have a rt2600 driver)

I extracted the tarball and it ./configure fine. However, the make command yielded loads of errors. (missing files, missing directories/params - the thing took up my whole command window. make install then did nothing benifical.

iwconfig gave me "no wireless extensions"

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've already read the wireless wiki. Please bear in mind that I've only have about a week's experience with Linux in general.

Thanks!

Hi,

Usually, situation like you happens when configure cannot detect something.

1. make clean
2. ./configure >& everything_goes_here

and check the file "everything_goes_here", if you have trouble, post that file here.

Happy Penguins!

You should download, extract and copy firmware to /lib/firmware
