Installing Backtrack

I was wondering if its possible to take a live CD and put it on your harddrive so you can boot it and run normally (as apposed to running it from the CD).

I found this Live Distro called BackTrack and it seems very interesting, but I have alot of problems with my network card and Linux so I can't use half the utilities on the Live CD.

You want to install live cd ? there're few live cd's that allow that like PCLinuxOS or Mepis but that's up to the live cd you're using.

same problem here...

i want to use backtrack from live-cd but in order to configure my wifi card i need kernel 2.6.15. Since the live-cd is 2.6.12 how can i install this distro to my computer and boot from it.

Another option would be to wait until the next release of backtrack live-cd with a more recent version of the kernel

any suggestions

Installing Backtrack... One solution that worked for me...

Hello gents...

Basically, first give a donation to the BackTrack team...

Then go to the BackTrack Wiki here. Download whichever BT3 image you want... I did the USB/DVD one. Then go to the "How-To" section and read the transcript from Muts' video... Follow it like a south beach bunny and you're good to go...

Oh! Almost forgot... his video is based on the BT2 version, but I just followed it to the "T" with the exception of using "qtparted" as I was installing it on my IBM T60 work laptop and I just wiped the recovery partition (I have backups )...

I'm writing this on my dual-boot XP Pro/Backtrack 3 system... Works great...

Now if I could only get my wifi card to go into monitor mode... Hmmmm....
