Thunderbird, Get IMAP and POP to download all messages to local folder

Hi,
I just upgraded from Fedora 3 to fedora 6. I used thunderbird for my e-mail on 3 and am doing the same for 6.
I have two e-mail accounts. One is a POP email server and the other is IMAP. On fedora 3, somehow I had magically gotten new messages from either server to land themselves into the local inbox. I can do this with the pop server because under account settings->server settings->Advanced I can fill in the radio button that says Global Inbox - Local folders only. However, under the IMAP settings in the same place, the advanced tab kindly leads me to some gibberish I don't understand. No where else do i see where I can place my downloaded messages on the IMAP account. It would be great if both accounts would just land incomming messages to the local inbox. Can anyone help?

Here's what I use:

Code:

Inbox ->
  Right Click ->
    Properties ->
      Offline tab ->
        Select this folder for offline use ->
          Download now.

What is this supposed to do? Whatever it is, it isn't what I'm looking for. If I send myself a message to the IMAP server, it still downloads itself into the local IMAP server inbox, not the Inbox under 'local folders' like my pop mail does. is this just not possible?

Never mind Yo. I can connect to the IMAP server as a POP, this lets me smash all the messages into the global inbox. Thanks anyway.

The messages are stored to you local disk, instead of staying on the remote IMAP server. I thought that was your real request.

The only difference is in what Input mailbox the messages are stored. What difference does that makes for you ?

Sure, then just create a message filter that copy (or move) incoming messages to your local inbox.
