Telnet Disabled :(

Hi

I need to use telnet to adminster a hub but the service is disabled for some reason. I've edited /etc/xinetd.d/telnet to enable it, but it still shows as disabled in services. All buttons are disabled.

# default: on
# description: The telnet server serves telnet sessions; it uses \
# unencrypted username/password pairs for authentication.
service telnet
{
flags = REUSE
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/in.telnetd
log_on_failure += USERID
disable = no

How can I enable it please? I'm using Fedora Core 2

use ssh instead, it is supported by "putty" and is far more secure.

Thank you

I never thought about that, but I used to use it on Windows when I had a remote site. I've got it running now and it is better than telnet.

Thanks again

In the future just for anyone messing with xinetd and its services, simply make your changes and restart xinetd..
