I had a Dell netbook that'd give me problems when ever I tried putting Linux on it, it'd crap out sometimes, freeze up, and other times install Linux np, as I was one to install linux on it more then once chekcing out different distro's

yours a Desktop I gather? what process are you using CD, usb, waving your hand over it.. etc...

ram amount
partitons settings if applicable

have you tried a different disto -- good idea IMS

your distro is 32bit and not 64bit? as old XP had to be 32bit

--

MOD: Ah HA!

from distro watch:

Distribution Release: Linux Lite 2.8

linux-lite-2.8-64bit.iso

I finally found how to get it downloaded, there web sight leaves a lot to be desired.
so I do hope you're using the 32 bit version...

Optiplex, XPS laptop, one of 100 other Dell PC models?

If you still are not sure, google your express code from the machine.

I just downloaded it, and put it in Vbox, and selected start Linux Light.. and it is just hanging up on the start screen...

I Strongly suggest you get a different distro and give that a try

freezing up on you in XP .. may suggest a hard ware problem too, as what I just posted I still strongly suggest trying a different distro of linux --
