I am maintaining squid server , the problem is that it hangs often
i havent worked much on squid but dont know how to troubleshoot the problem.
i just restart the service and it starts working again
or else i have to empty the log directory and restart the service
i went through the logs file access.log and cache.log
can someone help me with this problem
by providing me the basic steps for troubleshooting
OK, well if it crashes like it sounds, there really should be something suitable in the logs. Also check /var/log/messages. You can also run the squid daemon in the foreground and wait until it crashes, catching all stdout and stderr messages using "-N -d 3" flags (3 is actually my guess at a logging level, you might want a higher or lower number.)
