I know similar questions have been asked many times before but I've had a read through and it left me confused! Will my sound card ever work in Fedora and what should I try???
Yes, I've seen those. Only problem is, I have no idea as to how to install them... I've tried following the instructions in the documentation but they just go over my head! Are you able to explain how it should be done?
this is done in a console
download the drivers
cd to where you downloaded them to
type "./configure" without the quotes
type make
type make install
then to configure it:
1) Edit your /etc/conf.modules file (pico /etc/conf.modules)
- delete any line with "soundcore" or "sound" mentioned
- add "alias sound emu10k1" (It doesn't matter which line or order)
- save (hit ctl-x, then 'y')
2) Unload any Sound modules (rmmod soundcore; rmmod sound) (If this gives you an error, it's ok)
I use the emu10k1 driver for my SB live card..........try it
maybe the audigy driver might be worth a try.........you will
need the emu-tools to enable digital output.....surround sound...etc
get it anyway and check out the readme.
