What Linux Kernel version RH 9.0 uses ?
Is this an old PC ?(sorry for my ignorance)

In newer kernel versions, some Sound Drivers are outdated and removed! No longer supported...

Have you installed alsa utils ?
If yes, try to run alsaconf from a terminal and follow the setup instructions

Keep in touch ...

Best Redards
Vas!

But I guess it would be a wise decision to move ahead and get a newer version. RH9 lost support years ago. F10 is out as is Ubuntu Ibex.
Either of the distros should take your sound card.
